Your seat bottom should be as good as new if fixed correctly, you would want to grind out the area around crack (on backside of pedestal) several inches back on either side of crack at a taper. Wetlay up pieces of mat increasing the overall width of each layer to correspond to the taper of where you ground. Insure all bubbles are removed between each layer and that there is not a overabundance of resin. When laying up the cloth/matt alternate the direction of the weave to improve strength. it is imperative that the cracked area is ground out, do not just lay matt over the top of the crack You can also build up your base at this time by shimming it possibly with wood and fibreglass by rjracin240 |
