X-Star Pwt with a Wedge

Hi Guys,

im not sure if you have seen this before, but i come across a X-Star PWT the other day and the guy has put a Wedge on it. does anyone know how this would perform?? how the X-Star would change in handling etc and also what it would do to the wake???

xstar with a wedge

it performs bloody awesome took me alot of hrs to engineer it with lengths, angles and widths but it was worth it. it its my 2nd xstar and we just need that xtra lip so instead of putting xtra weight in rear to achieve it (flyhigh kit ect.) no weight in rear and load middle n front, american pro riders have ridden behind it and luv it . i have done over 1200 hrs with xstars so i knew what i needed, so now i get no water over back when backing off, and exellant power out of hole as i negative tilt it and it push's back end out plus the fact of bugger all weight in rear.its just that our riding mates and us of course luv having huge wakes and it makes it easy learning new tricks gives a little more time in the air for dailing them in! what did u think of tonys riding?

Well its your boat I guess you can bloody well do what you want..but why? There are no storage issues. The ballast is below the floor.

a) Worse gas mileage
b) At wakeboard speeds or under handling is acceptable not great.
c) You already have a product specfically designed to create the Worlds Best
Wakeboard wake.

That boat as not cheap...I guess the question is WHY OH WHY???

My question is a simple one. What happens when you hit a submerged object under water? Is the transom beefed up to support this? I've seen too many pics of wedges on boats that have hit objects and ripping out the transom. Like Jim said, its YOUR boat. Don't be running to MC for warranty on the hull when it gets ripped out!

Luckily we were able to get a spy photo of the new powerplant required to move the beast with the added drag of the wedge before it was installed...

Shhhh.....secret photo...if you look closely you'll see the hull flipped over in the background during the "extensive engineering" phase.

That just doesn’t make much sense. That is like wiping before ya poop.

But then again whatever floats your boat or could sink it in this case.

I am going to stand for you here and take a beating. Having owned another brand boat and riding often on a boat with the wedge, I think this is freaking brilliant...or bloody brilliant as you might say. I guess I don't have the 'MC way or the highway' mentality.

The wedge ripped off threads post the 5 same rehashed pictures over and over and over. It just does not happen that often. The prop shaft, prop and rudder all hang lower than the wedge, so you have lots of other huge damage before you get to the wedge. If you manage to hit the wedge while missing the prop, then you have hit just 3 inches to the side of the prop, an unlikely scenario.

The wedge is like adding a thousand pounds of ballast in 5 seconds.

If we could add certain things from other boats, then even MC could get better. Other brands copied MC's pickle fork, and MC was not the first to put a trim tab on a wakeboard boat either.
